Ennis-on-the-Madison Fly Fishing Festival (Montana)

Montana’s Madison River provides fly fishing for rainbow and brown trout that’s second to none. As a result, fly-fishing enthusiasts from around the world are drawn to the historic town of Ennis, “The Fly Fishing Capital of the World,” on the river’s shore. Thousands pour in during Labor Day week each year when the Ennis on the Madison Fly Fishing Festival provides a venue that celebrates this fast-growing sport.

Highlights include fly casting competitions and skill development seminars; tackle vendors; fly-tying demonstrations; conservation group booths; art and literary events; antiques and collectibles displays; plus loads of musical entertainment and piscatorial cuisine. Experts in all areas of fly fishing from fly tying, travel and techniques to equipment, literature, cooking and art have been invited to attend. Proceeds help support the Madison River Foundation, which provides a local voice on the preservation and use of the Madison River ecosystem.

The 31st Annual KIDS FISHING FESTIVAL will be held July 28th, 2018, from 8am to 1pm at the SnowCreek Ponds on Old Mammoth Road in the resort town of Mammoth Lakes, California.

Plenty of huge trophy trout from Desert Springs Trout Farm will be stocked in these beautiful High Sierra ponds with Mammoth Mountain forming a picturesque backdrop. This popular event is FREE for kids 14 and under and will run from 8am to 1pm. Rods and reels are provided, or you can bring your own. Come later, receive more individual attention from our guides, and have lunch. Our fish keep biting all day long!

Beginning Fly Fishing Clinic

Learn the basics of fly fishing. For ages 16 and up.

Learn the basics of fly fishing. All fly fishing equipment will be provided or bring your own. Topics will cover casting techniques, equipment, rigging the rod, safety, aquatics, lure selection, basic fly tying, reading the water, knots, conservation and stream manners. Members of the Hill Country Fly Fishing Club will assist with the class. A fee of $35 will be collected to cover facility rental.

The Wasatch Intermountain Fly Tying and Fly Fishing Expo is a gathering of fly fishers, fly tiers, fishing guides, destination outfitters, and fly fishing equipment vendors. The Expo has many purposes but includes a wide variety of educational, conservation, travel, casting competitions, and humanitarian activities.

-Educational opportunities to learn fly fishing, fly tying and advanced casting techniques from nationally recognized experts including a 2-day women’s only event.

-Over 100 fly tiers will demonstrate their tying skills showing some of their favorite patterns that catch fish.

-Youth programs where kids have to opportunity to tie flies and learn fly rod casting techniques.

-A Top Gun casting competition where nationally known casters compete for prize money.

-A casting pond for attendees to try casting new fly rods supplied by the vendors.

-The Adventure Theater features discussions hourly on fishing around the west and elsewhere in the world.

-New for 2018 will be a wide range of panels on topics such as Steelhead Fishing, Fishing the Green River, Utah’s Blue Ribbon Fisheries, the Utah Cutthroat Slam and many others.

Utah Chapters of Trout Unlimited, the Fly Fishers International, and the Great Western Fly Fishing Club sponsor the Expo. Funds raised at the Expo supports conservation and humanitarian activities of the participating chapters.

The Sowbug Roundup is a three day fly tying and fly fishing show that is held in  Mountain Home Arkansas. The next Sowbug Roundup will be held March 22, 23rd, and 24th 2018. This is the 21st year that the North Arkansas Fly Fishers (NAFF) have put on the Sowbug Roundup. The first Sowbug had 20 tyers and 150 attendees. The 2016 Sowbug had over 100 fly tiers and over 1000 attendees.

The Second Annual Fly Fishing Show brings together fly fishing enthusiasts and high quality fly fishing dealers for a day of tackle review and conversation. The Show has been set for March 17, 2018 from 9am to 4pm. Due to the large crowd that attended our first show, we have moved the show to Towson University’s Potomac Lounge. The University has easy access from Rt.95 and the Baltimore 695 beltway. The Potomac lounge is in the University Union and has ample free garage parking right next to the building.

The Western Maine Fly Fishing Expo returns with a new larger venue at the Gould Academy Field House from 9am - 4pm with more exhibitors, new seminars and presentations, and a casting area to test drive new rods.  There will be guides, outfitters, sporting camps, authors, artists, equipment manufacturers and retailer. 

In addition, there will be a silent auction, raffles, and a special guest appearance by Carrie Stevens. This year's theme is "Women in Fly Fishing" so come learn from prominent women involved with fly fishing how you too can get hooked!

Long Island Fly Fishing Expo (New York)

Through the impetus of Paul McCain, longtime fly fishing enthusiast and member of several of the fly fishing clubs on Long Island (and currently owner-operator of River Bay Outfitters fly shop in Baldwin, NY) the Long Island Fly Fishing Expo  was created to promote the sport of fly fishing among the residents of the greater Long Island area. 
LIFFExpo is a forum for providing information on opportunities to partake in this sport, locally and within the greater regional area. When feasible LIFFExpo, Ltd. will be making  donations to local fly fishing charitable organizations (i.e. Casting for Recovery, Project Healing Waters, etc.).

 The Long Island Fly Fishing Expo is the first annual event to showcase the art, science and sport behind fly fishing in the area. A wonderful way to learn about fly fishing for the first time, hone your skills, learn about fly tying, hear from the professionals, or just spend with afternoon with the family.

2nd Annual Texas Fly Fishing & Brew Festival (Texas)

The second annual Texas Fly Fishing & Brew Festival (TFFF) is on March 10-11, 2018, in Plano, Texas. This one-of-a-kind, family-friendly event will be held at the Plano Center approximately 20 miles north of Dallas, with easy access from Route 75.

The indoor/outdoor venue means that attendees can have the best of both worlds: Attendees can check out a myriad of fly fishing manufacturers indoors, attend various lectures on techniques and topics interesting to fly anglers of every stripe–and then step out into the Texas sunshine to taste some of the Lone Star State’s best micro-brewed beer.
